Since moving to Humboldt county almost a year ago I've been noticing that there's a lot of hippies and college kids driving around old VW's. Primarily the symbolic Volkswagen Bus. I based a recent show of mine on this subject. The older split window model is iconic and is the subject of a lot of art so I focused on the later model "Bay Window" style bus. My dad had one when I was growing up and it's the first stick shift I ever drove. The Bays have a special place in my heart.
